Years Coaching: 7
I have lots of experience working with young climbers. I have ran my own coaching business which predominantly focused on young climbers who wanted to compete nationally. Many of my students reached National Finals and one was selected for GB youth team.

I have been making training programs for four years. One of my biggest successes was coaching a climber who had barely climbed outside, after completing my training program he was sending 7c regularly. He then went on to climb his first 8a, all in under a year

Years Coaching: 8
I have been coaching on a daily basis for the last 8 years. I work with both youth and adult climbers, mainly considered to be intermediate and advanced.

I have coached many youth climbers on to Team GB and work with members on an international level. I am the manager and coach of the GB Para-Climbing Team and have coached one member from start to winning Gold at a World Cup in less than 2 years.

I also set-up a coaching holiday company called RocUp whereby we run bespoke climbing coaching trips with professional coaches alongside the best climbers in the world; such as Alex Megos, Magnus Midtbo and Sierra Blair-Coyle.

I offer technique analysis sessions, assessment sessions, bespoke training plans and an online eCoach product whereby I assess and analyse videos from clients worldwide.

The Foundry
Years Coaching: 3
In the last two years I have built up the junior team at the Foundry to over 30 members, and I hope I have helped to inspire and train the next generation of climbers. I have learned a lot from implementing training on the group and seeing their response and adoptions over time.

I have also spent time providing technical coaching for adults and helping psyched climbers develop training programs. I love taking on new challenges and getting a new understanding of climbing, it is this process that keeps me motivated to carry on coaching.

The Climbing Academy
Years Coaching: 25
It’s hard to believe that I’ve now been coaching in one form or another for a quarter of a century, and I’ve watched the process of coaching, and the tools to help do so, develop and progress beyond recognition in that time. Those developments keep me engaged and fuel my passion to help others to enjoy their climbing and progress their abilities.
In 2008 I achieved a long term ambition and built The Climbing Academy in Bristol with Rich Emerson. TCA Glasgow followed 3 years later, fulfilling our desire to give climbers great facilities in which to train and improve, and importantly to us, to also call home.
When I first saw the Lattice system I knew it it was something special. It is a giant step forward in science based training and assessment, and it’s great to have become a part of that with our 20 degree board in TCA Bristol.

The Foundry
Years Coaching: 1

Having started off with relatively limited training facilities and not much time in which to use them I naturally turned to basic strength training as a means to progress my own climbing. Building strength is still my preferred method of progression and as such this is the area I most enjoy coaching.

Being fairly well travelled in terms of competition experience (world cup bouldering competitions and European lead competitions) and hard redpointing (up to 8b+ and V13) I often draw on personal experience to offer coaching advice.

Qualifications: CWLA, BSc Physical Activity and Sport Science
