Tom Randall

Founder & Coach

Lattice Founder and Coach, Tom Randall, has a climbing career spanning 26 years; with 20 of those also being spent coaching climbing, as well as athletics and Tae Kwon Do. Tom is a BMC Fundamentals and Physical Training Course creator and deliverer, and former GB Senior Team manager and GB Junior Coach. As one of the founders of Lattice Training, Tom has been witness to what he calls the “rollercoaster of exciting times” developing both the company and the team of coaches and staff. Tom says, “I always thought that coaching was a challenging task, but supporting a whole team of growing coaches is a whole different kettle of fish. I’m still learning a lot!”

In his own climbing, Tom is no stranger to training hard, pushing boundaries and achieving impressive goals. Tom made the first ascent of Century Crack (5,14b) in Utah, USA, as well as the first ascent of The Kraken (V13) in Devon, England. Tom also achieved the speed record of the Brown & Whillans 24hr challenge, climbing all the routes on the eastern and western edges of the Peak District National Park with partner, Pete Whittaker. Tom still retains ambitious personal climbing goals; to climb 9a sport and trad climb beyond 9a.

Tom is a passionate and enthusiastic coach, with good energy for helping others. He loves being able to pass on all he has learned in his years as a professional climber to positively impact other peoples’ training and climbing progression. “It makes every day worth it when I see happy clients who are climbing harder and better each year!”
