Erin McNeice Secures Her Place at Paris 2024 Olympics
Lattice Training athlete Erin McNeice has officially qualified for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games, marking a significant milestone in her climbing career. Erin’s qualification was secured through her impressive performances at the Olympic Qualifier Series (OQS) in Shanghai and Budapest, where she earned bronze medals in both events.
Erin has been training with Lattice’s founder, Ollie Torr since March 2021. In Shanghai, she showcased her exceptional skills by flashing the first Boulder problem and securing crucial points in Lead, finishing third overall. This was followed by another strong performance in Budapest, where she clinched another bronze medal, confirming her spot for Paris 2024.
Reflecting on her journey, Erin expressed her excitement for the upcoming Olympics:
“To qualify for an Olympic ticket felt incredible and to get my second podium made it even more special. I can’t wait to compete at the Paris Olympics, and I’m looking forward to sharing the experience with my teammates and coaches.”
“It was an absolute pleasure to be there in person watch Erin compete in Budapest and qualify for the Olympics. I still remember sitting down with Erin, her parents, and support team (Rachel & Tom) in November 2023 and asking her what her goals for the year were. Her tentative answer was the Olympics. At that time, I think Erin was the only person in the room who didn’t believe she could do it. After that day, Erin got to work in a big way. I can honestly say that I have never seen an athlete push so hard over a winter training period and make such big gains as she has. I think the whole climbing community has been shocked at her progress. Erin has earned her place in the Olympics with grit, determination, and a lot of hours of training. I think she is now starting to see in herself what we all could see. I couldn’t be prouder to be part of the team supporting Erin and cannot wait to see what happens in Paris.”

Erin’s love for climbing began at the age of five when her father introduced her to the sport. After moving to Malaysia at age eight, she honed her skills on a larger climbing wall in Kuala Lumpur. Upon returning to England at 12, she competed in her first national competition and aimed to join the GB Junior Climbing Team. Her perseverance paid off when she secured a spot on the team after finishing second in a national lead event.
Her early career highlights include a fifth-place finish in Boulder and tenth in Lead at the IFSC Climbing World Youth Championships in 2021. She continued to excel in 2022, making her first senior international final at the European Lead Cup in Zilina and achieving sixth place in combined at the Youth Worlds.
The entire team at Lattice Training is immensely proud of Erin and excited to see her represent Great Britain on the world stage.
Maximum kudos to Erin and wishing you and team a smooth journey in the prep for Paris!
