Getting Started with LatticePlan

How to get started with LatticePlan, the adaptive climbing training plan.

Welcome to LatticePlan. This guide covers everything you need to know to get started with your adaptive climbing training plan.

How to Use the Lattice App

The Lattice Training app is your central hub for managing your training. From the app, you can complete workouts with built-in exercise timers, track your progress through analytics and diary notes, and receive a fully personalised training plan that adapts to your feedback each week.

Whether you are a boulderer, sport climber, or all-rounder, the app is designed to meet you where you are and help you improve.

If you have any questions or need help getting set up, contact our support team at contact@latticetraining.com.

LatticePlan 7-Day Free Trial

LatticePlan is available as a monthly or annual subscription, and every new subscriber gets a 7-day free trial to explore everything the plan has to offer. No commitment and no cancellation if you cancel before your start date.

You can sign up for your free trial at latticetraining.com/latticeplan/ or directly through the Lattice Training app.

During your trial, you have full access to all LatticePlan features, including your personalised training plan, weekly check-ins, workout library, and plan adaptation. If you decide LatticePlan is right for you, your trial will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the end of the 7-day period. If you cancel before the trial ends, you will not be charged.

How Your LatticePlan Is Unique to You

The LatticePlan is designed to be fully adaptive and personalised to you. When you first sign up, you complete a questionnaire that captures key information about your training background and goals. This includes:

  • Fingerboarding experience -- whether you have trained on a fingerboard before and how frequently
  • Climbing ability -- your current grades across bouldering and route climbing
  • Strength and conditioning background -- your experience with general S&C training
  • Goals -- what you want to achieve from your training
  • Age and sex -- to calibrate appropriate training loads
  • Training availability -- how many days per week you can train, and how long your sessions typically are

Our technology combines data-driven analysis with expert coaching insight to generate a plan that is built specifically for you. Your plan is not a static template. It continuously learns and adapts based on your workout logs, check-in responses, and progress over time.

Do not stress about giving perfect answers in the initial questionnaire. The system is designed to adjust as it learns more about you, so your plan will become more finely tuned with every week of training.

The Weekly Check-in Quiz

Each week, LatticePlan asks you to complete a short check-in quiz. This helps the system fine-tune your training load alongside the data from your workout logs. The check-in is designed to:

  • Evaluate adaptation -- assess how your body is responding to the current training stimulus
  • Report recovery -- let the system know how well you are recovering between sessions
  • Assess workload sustainability -- determine whether the current volume and intensity are appropriate
  • Schedule deload or rest weeks -- automatically programme recovery periods when needed
  • Adjust for illness or injury -- modify your plan if you have been unwell or are dealing with a niggle
  • Add missing workouts -- flag sessions that were not logged but still completed

The more accurate your feedback is, the smarter your recovery scheduling will be. Take a moment each week to answer honestly, even if it feels like nothing has changed.

You can also make manual adjustments to your plan at any time via Home > Overview tab, where you can view and edit your upcoming training week.

Equipment Requirements

To get the most out of LatticePlan, you will need access to the following equipment:

  • Commercial climbing gym access -- a gym with a variety of wall angles and hold types
  • Fingerboard (highly recommended) -- essential for structured finger strength training
  • Pull-up bar -- for pull-up and hanging exercises
  • Weights and weight belt -- for adding load to fingerboard and pull-up exercises
  • Conditioning tools -- such as a TRX, gymnastic rings, or similar suspension trainer for core and upper-body conditioning work

Equipment filtering is planned for early 2026, which will allow you to tailor your plan based on the specific equipment you have available.

Climbing Training Plan vs. LatticePlan

Lattice Training offers two distinct approaches to personalised training. Here is how they compare:

Climbing Training Plan (CTP)

  • 100% customised training plan
  • Written by a Lattice coach
  • Available in 12 or 24-week training blocks
  • Includes direct communication with your coach (CTP PLUS)

LatticePlan

  • 100% customised training plan
  • Powered by Intelligent Climbing Training Technology
  • Generated from a detailed questionnaire about your training background and goals
  • Fully adaptive with weekly adjustments based on your feedback and workout data
  • Available as a monthly or annual subscription

Both products deliver personalised training, but through different methods. The CTP is ideal for climbers who want hands-on guidance from a coach and the accountability of a structured block. LatticePlan is ideal for climbers who want a continuously adapting plan that responds to their training in real time.

Note: LatticePlan cannot replace the 1:1 coaching relationship provided by Climbing Training Plan PLUS or the specialised programming of the Flexibility Training Plan. If you are looking for direct coach interaction or flexibility-focused training, those products remain the best options.
