Meet Jana Švecová, a rock climber from the Czech Republic who’s making waves in outdoor bouldering.

Jana began climbing at 7 and now rocks the boulders of Moravian Karst, thanks to the inspiration of local legend Adam Ondra. But her climbing adventures don’t stop there — she’s explored Switzerland, Austria, and even the United Arab Emirates, where she and her crew developed over 200 boulders in the past two years.

Jana used to compete in lead climbing, winning the Czech championship three times and scoring a victory in the European Youth Cup. In 2019, she shifted gears to outdoor bouldering and hasn’t looked back.

In 2020, Jana took on the tough Conquistador boulder, graded 8B/V13. The next year, she upped her game with Roof der Wildnis (8B+/V14). This year, she nailed Nova (8C/V15), marking the first ascent and showcasing her bouldering skills.

Jana is the fourth woman globally to tackle an 8C boulder, and the first Czech woman to conquer 8B, 8B+, and 8C boulders. Now, Jana’s teamed up with Lattice Training to up her game further in the hopes of doing Terranova 8C+/V16 and many more 8C/V15 boulders.

Check out her journey on YouTube at JaneClimbs and on Instagram at @climbingjane.

Jana Švecová is all about keeping it simple and making bouldering dreams come true. As she says, “It takes two to make it true.”
