FAQs
I've never been coached before. Is that ok?
No problem! Many of our clients come to us for their first coaching experience.
All our plans are delivered via our app, including detailed exercise descriptions and videos showing you how to complete the training, ensuring anyone with any level of experience can train effectively.
I'm not based in the UK. Do you offer remote coaching?
Yes! We work with clients all over the globe.
All of our coaching services are offered remotely so you can access world-class training, wherever you are based.
I am very busy. Do I have time for structured training?
Most of the climbers we work with have full time jobs, often with families and other responsibilities.
Our training plans with ongoing coach support (Climbing Training Plan PLUS and Flexibility Training Plan) are ideal for a busy lifestyle: if something last-minute comes up, your coach can edit your plan to suit.
Do you cater to all climbing grades?
We have experience working with athletes across a huge range of abilities; from those attempting their first V5 all the way up to professional rock climbers.
The entry requirements for all of our training plans are the same, you must have climbed V4/6B boulder or 6b+/5.10+ sport in the last 12 months.
You must also be able to hang your bodyweight on a 20mm rung for 10 seconds or more.
Am I too old to start training and pushing hard grades?
Absolutely not! Most of our clients are aged 35-50 (and we have worked with climbers well into their golden years!).
All of our climbers in this age range – whether they started late in life or not – are perfectly capable of getting stronger and fitter, and we see this on a weekly basis.
Am I still able to climb for fun whilst I’m training?
Yes, of course!
We’ll work with you to find the healthy balance between structured and unstructured climbing that’s necessary to keep your training sustainable in the long-term; whether that’s structured climbing indoors in the week and unstructured climbing outdoors at the weekends, or squeezing training into your lunch break to complement your social climbing in the evening.
My technique needs work. Is this the plan for me?
All our training plans are focused on developing the physical attributes needed for climbing. Your coach will look at the results of your testing and write a custom physical training plan to develop these.
If you’re hoping to focus on developing technique, we would recommend you work with a local in-person coach.
Which plan is right for me?
Consideration 1: The Grade You Climb
For all our plans, in the last 12 months, you must have bouldered V4/6B or sport climbed 6b+/5.10+.
If you climb at an intermediate level, all of our plans are suitable! Keep reading to find out what else you should consider when choosing your plan.
For anyone climbing at an advanced or elite level, we would recommend our Climbing Training Plan PLUS which includes ongoing coach support as your training is likely to be more nuanced and may need adjusting within a training block.
Consideration 2: Your Focus
If flexibility is your priority, then you should choose a Flexibility Training Plan. Whilst all of our coaches are able to prescribe flexibility as part of a plan focused on overall holistic performance, climbers hoping to improve their flexibility primarily would benefit from the expertise of our dedicated flexibility coaches.
Consideration 3: Level of Coach Support
If you are someone who has lots of questions for a coach, requires plan re-writes and edits due to a busy life or last-minute changes or inconsistent access to facilities, or if you simply want ongoing contact with your coach, our Climbing Training Plan PLUS is perfect for you.
If you’re happy with a self-led approach without ongoing coach support and monitoring, our Climbing Training Plan is right for you.
Consideration 4: Training History & Experience
If you’re someone who has never trained before or is relatively new to structured training, it’s likely that our Climbing Training Plan will meet your needs.
If you have a long history of structured training, it’s likely that our Climbing Training Plan PLUS will be more appropriate as you’ll be able to work with your coach in an ongoing way to nuance your training plan. This plan is perfect for anyone trying to break plateau.
I don't quite meet your physical requirements. Can I still do a training plan?
Unfortunately not – for all our plans, you must have bouldered V4/6B or sport climbed 6b+/5.10d+ in the last 12 months, and must be able to hang bodyweight on a 20mm edge for 10 seconds.
As all our plans are delivered remotely, we have physical requirements in place to reduce the risk of injury to clients. We don’t want to cause injury by putting your body under stress it isn’t ready for.
Additionally, these requirements ensure that you’re ready to get the most out of your time spent training!
You can head to our YouTube channel, blog or podcast for free resources to help you reach those benchmarks.
Our ‘Fingerboarding for Beginners’ video and ‘Training Fundamentals’ series are a great place to start.
Alternatively, our Education Courses are great resources for learning about and writing your own training plan. ‘A Climber’s Guide to Training’ is our flagship course that should teach you everything you need to know to write your own training plan.
I don't have access to the recommended equipment. Can I still do a training plan?
You will need the required equipment to complete the assessment at the start of your plan. However, after this, it doesn’t matter if you don’t have access to the recommended equipment. Our training plans are fully personalised—not just to your goals, strengths, and weaknesses, but also to the facilities and equipment available to you. Simply let your coach know what you have access to in your pre-plan form, and they’ll tailor your plan accordingly.
I have a lower body injury. Can I still do a training plan?
We’re sorry to hear that you’re injured! We wish you a speedy recovery!
Whilst we don’t typically work with injured climbers, lower body injuries are the exception since maintaining your upper body strength whilst you recover is a good idea. Your coach will write you a plan focusing on upper body conditioning and finger strength; just let them know about your injury in the pre-plan form you receive at the start of your plan.
Can I be pregnant or 12 months postpartum and complete a Climbing Training Plan?
Unfortunately, we cannot offer this service to clients who are pregnant or less than 12 months postpartum.
Pregnancy and the postpartum period require a more tailored approach, with closer monitoring to ensure safety and avoid injury or complications. Since this plan does not include ongoing coach support, we recommend our Climbing Training Plan PLUS as we will match you with our pregnancy and postpartum specialist who will offer ongoing support and monitoring. This option ensures you receive the support needed to train safely and effectively during this time.
Emmi –
My 12 week training program was such a good experience, and I noticed big changes both physically but also in my mindset. I’ve never put much effort in systemic training and it took me a while to get into the groove but once I did, I was looking forward to the training days and realized just how easy it was to use the app and get things done. The plan my trainer made me was truly custom made for my needs and I see the logic she had for choosing all the individual sets!
For sport climbing, it really opened my eyes for how much extra capacity I actually have to try hard and when I think I’m done, I have 5 extra moves left. Also for bouldering, I feel so much stronger than before and get surprised everytime something that felt impossible, now feels within reach or almost easy. I think most importantly, the plan gave me confidence in my own strength and capacity to try climbs I have always wanted to try but felt too weak.
Thank you. I would 100% recommend this to all my friends!
Freddy –
I don’t think that I have necessarily gotten a lot stronger/better immediately after the training plan. However I think it’s still been massively beneficial. I think with a longer plan than 6 weeks the effects would have been more noticeable right after finishing it. Now I have gotten the feeling that the training plan broke a lot of thought patterns and approaches. So instead of a frustrating plateau it feels like the beginning of an exciting journey. I have seen quite some improvements in my climbing that I attribute to a sort of secondary effect of the training plan. Especially mentally it’s been quite helpful.
gareth –
By the end of my plan, I was definitely in the strongest climbing shape of my life. Despite neither being necessarily the core focus of the plan, both my general upper body strength and finger strength showed considerable improvement. Perhaps most satisfying, however, was the improvement in my lower body flexibility and mobility, which not only has improved my movement on the wall, but has eliminated pain that I used to experience in my hips and knees when placed in more compromising positions. I’ll certainly be retaining many of these mobility exercises in my future training.
Jamie –
My lattice plan has definitely helped me to see measurable improvements in my climbing performance, making solid progress toward longer term goals. Looking at 3 key areas – pulling strength increase by 3%, finger strength increase by 9%, and completed multiple v8 boulders (before plan only 1)!!!! Most importantly though the focused structure has helped me re-evaluate how to use time more effectively to work towards goals – and has helped me shift into a quality over quantity mindset which feels to have made a big difference for my overall performance Very happy with the effectiveness of my plan.
The whole process is very easy and felt that my coach (Jon Procter) did a great job setting out a relevant plan for my goals – thanks Jon! The video is a really nice addition and had me excited to start the plan and the training. Managing sessions is super easy with the app (ie planning and moving sessions, recording notes and tracking progress) which is highly valuable as the plans do have a lot of exercises and sessions to track and manage. Overall the total package exceeded my expectations, and definitely plan to start another training plan before the end of the year.
Andrew –
Another follow on training plan. I have real gains in my climbing both in grade and consistency. The plan is very well designed and balanced enabling me to fit in training around my other commitments. It is also enjoyable in itself.
Hendrik –
I got more flexible and am now able to climb my project way faster than before. My endurance and recovery got better. Your plans feel personalized and I have the feeling that they really help to build a deep foundation for my climbing career. And I trust you. (HUGE fan of your YouTube channel)
Jack –
I have climbed for a fairly long time, never staying too consistent in my training and often having large breaks/gaps in my climbing because of work or injury. Because of this I have hovered at the same grade for years. My plan of taking my grade from 7a (more like 6c/+ when starting the program) to 7b in three months seemed overly optimistic but I am a gambling man and had a bet with my friend so needs must. To my and everyone else’s surprise not only have I managed to tick a 7b at week 10 of the program I also managed to tick a 7b+ as well. Needless to say, I’m thrilled with the end result along with the lack of injury (which is normally my down fall). I have been recommending the program to my friends, fellow climbers and would recommend it to anyone who has found themselves in a plateau or is simply looking for some accountability and structure.
A big shout out and thank you to my training coach who wrote the program.
For anyone who is struggling to justify the price, my gym membership is roughly £50 a month and £150 for the program (£300 total for three months). Based on my previous experience, it is unlikely that I would’ve got myself to 7b+ in six months, or maybe even a year (£600 in gym membership) or more by my self as I likely would have over trained and undone all of my hard work.
If you value your climbing like I do with trips around the uk and abroad and want to get the most out of my climbing the program seems to have saved me money rather than cost it.

Learned how to structure a successful training plan, especially the importance of incorporating volume sessions. The plan was tailored to my needs! I can now comfortably climb v6 projects in one session and v7 is in reach. So I advanced by one grade! I enjoyed my plan so much that I ordered a second one!
Matej –
After a very long plateau and a consistent training with Lattice sport training plan, I finally managed to break that plateau.
When my last block of traning was over and before new one has started, I managed to pull off some good climbs:
– 7a+ on second go in my local crag (with such an ease that grade felt like a was climbing an easy grade)
– two 7b’s in a row on kilterboard
– 7c on 4th try on kilterboard
I’m still blown away about those climbs!
Can’t wait to start with the new cycle of training and see what this season will bring me on the rock. 🙂

While it was sometimes a bit tricky to keep up the momentum, there is zero question about the effectiveness of the plan on my climbing. It helped me break through the plateau I was stuck at, and I was even able to grab my first 7A.. Most importantly it got me to (finally) add some structure to my gym visits, and forced me to puzzle a training routine into everyday life. It was great to do this with a buddy (who also made gains), and some of my mates were impressed enough with the progress that they have also signed up for the program.
Deanna –
I finished up a 6 month plan and able to reach my goal of sending my 5.12a project and I was climbing 5.11a/b at the time. The structure and assessment of my weaknesses really helped. The most interesting was the flexibility training, as I had thought I was pretty flexible. I definitely could not have done it without a structured training plan to follow. I am very satisfied with the results and learning to train hard for a project! Thanks Lattice!
Will Gilbert –
I was bought the sport climbing programme as a birthday present but it was something I was considering anyway. I’d been stuck at 6c for a long time and hadn’t manage to send a single 7a. The programme helped me develop a lot of strength, and ultimately send not only my first 7a, but I even managed a 7b. I learned a lot about training and structuring a training programme, and it is definitely something I’ll be looking to repeat in the near future!
I would wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone who’s looking at sport-specific training, but especially to those who, like me, find themselves on a performance plateau. It’s hard work, but the results justify it!
Glenn –
Loved the structured program, felt like I was actually training for the first since starting climbing. After completing a 12 week sport climbing program that had me mainly doing bouldering sessions, when I got back on lead I had more confidence and felt so much stronger. Prior to the program I had sent one 7a. I have just finished a climbing trip in Kalymnos where I onsighted 10 7a’s, 4 7a+’s and sent my first 7b on my 4th attempt. I can’t wait to start my next phase of training.
Marius Hamacher –
Overall a great experience. Completing the plan got me hooked on structured training, as a lot of the exercises were surprisingly fun and there was enough variation to keep things from getting stale. Comments from the pre-assessment were incorporated into the plan and after completing it, I improved more than I expected. Communication was quick and very helpful. I sustained a shoulder injury shortly before the plan was going to start. The Lattice Team rescheduled and offered advice on how to best proceed.
Would definitely recommend to anyone interested in getting into training for climbing.
Fredrick de Mare –
Kind friends gave me this plan for my 60th birthday and it was the BEST PRESENT EVER!! Not only have I become stronger and more flexible, but I enjoy climbing a lot more now, and while I haven’t been able to test my outdoor bouldering, I know that my outdoor route climbing has improved. The flexibility of the plan makes the program easily adjustable to everyday time constraints and means that it is very easy to follow.
Spencer (verified owner) –
Really really good training plan! I had gotten in a bit of a rut with my climbing/training and was looking to change things up leading into the fall season. The lattice training plan was exactly what I was looking for. When training on your own, I feel its easy to end up strong in the areas you train but unknowingly really weak in areas you neglect. So by having a personalized plan that targeted my weaknesses, that were shown in the testing, I was able to have my strongest season yet! Im really looking forward to working with Lattice again and to keep growing as a climber.

Let me preface this by stating that I’m currently in week 7 of 12. I will edit this review and my score should anything change, but looking at the next 4 weeks of my plan, I doubt it will.
Around week 3 and 4, I was ecstatic with my sudden progress in both indoor and outdoor bouldering. I felt absolutely strong and nimble, and was ticking off higher grades than what I was sending before. I felt myself breaking past this year long plateau. I was already drafting this amazing 5-star review in my head, and I couldn’t wait to rave about it to all my friends. I was ready to buy another 12, or even 24, weeks because of how good I felt.
However, it was around week 5 and 6 when a particular 1-star review I read below started to resonate with me: this program didn’t feel at all personalized. If it was, then my coach did a poor job at it. This was obvious in two ways:
1) I was suddenly assigned an exercise (bw repeaters) that, if you even considered my base numbers prior, should have known I had no chance of succeeding in. There was no real progression in my program thus far that would have led me there. I had to modify this exercise by significantly reducing load. Up until this point, I’ve followed every exercise (including the assigned weight %s) to a tee.
2) One of the questions in the survey prior to starting the program asks you if you’ll be away/couldn’t complete exercises on certain days. I specified I was going on vacation at the end of week 6 and start of week 7. Now, why was my program exceptionally difficult and packed during week 6? (There was a significant spike from week 5.) I’ve had to cram several exercises within an incredibly tight schedule. To top things off, week 7 which was labelled a “rest week” contained the EXACT same exercises as week 6.
The fact that I’m having to suddenly modify exercises to the degree that I am kind of invalidates having a coach prepare your program for you. I can’t even contact my coach because you don’t get that privilege in this program beyond the initial email. (You’ll have to fork over $$$ for their performance plan, if you want to speak regularly with a coach).
I’m really sad to write this review as I’m seeing progress, but I can’t wholeheartedly recommend someone to spend $250-400 on a program that doesn’t respect your time and feels cookie-cutter.
Tom Randall –
Hi Mark, it’s Tom Randall here. Any negative review that we receive here (or via email) will always be addressed in detail our end as myself and the team are utterly committed to building amazing training plans, happy climbers, good results etc, it’s of paramount importance to us! I’m going to also write to you personally via email just in case you don’t come back to read any replies as it’s important we fully get to the bottom of everything… but also because I always want anyone in the general public who reads these reviews to know that we’re fully accountable to our work and that we actually, genuinely care!
1. First thing I want to say – and this is also super important for anyone reading, we NEVER want people to not be able to email/DM/WhatsApp us if they have an issue. As we build everything by hand with real humans (yes, I know some people will think we have robots and crazy levels of AI… I promise it’s not true) there is always the potential for human error occasionally. We’re always happy to address pretty much any issue, whatever the day of the year.
2. Regarding the cookie cutter feeling – what I can say is that 1) I promise you this is not true, our entire reputation is staked on it 2) The way that the plans are built on our ‘backend platform’ means that the coach HAS to start with a blank sheet so it’s totally impossible for them to produce plans in this way 3) I’m in the office every single week sitting next to our coaches writing plans, discussing testing data, debating methods of periodisation.. I get to see it behind the scenes and it’s really cool. 4) All of our coaches go through months of internal education and training – even if they’ve got a PhD in Sports Science! – so that we know everyone is using the same applied theory, experience and Lattice methodology.
3. The assignment of bodyweight repeaters was done with the context of where your initial max strength scores were coming in at when you first tested and this was added as a high intensity anaerobic FB session to compliment the continuation of the max hangs in your program. I’ve gone in and reviewed your plan with our head coach and we’ve agreed that this was placed too early in your mesocycles and should have been put a little later in the plan (we’ll chat through edits via email!).
4. The assignment of load around your 5 day vacation was, upon review, not correct and I agree that this should have been deloaded. This is 100% a human error and we’ve reviewed this internally and come up with some solutions. This is one of those items that can occasionally causes issues due to basic human error and whilst we always encourage a client to drop us an email if something looks wrong, I do appreciate in this instance that you didn’t feel that was possible and a review was your sole option. We’ll pick this one up directly via email as per the points above.
I hope my reply demonstrates that we’re always active in dealing with any issues raised, that we hold a high level of accountability to our standards, methods and reputation and also that I won’t dodge away from things that haven’t been quite right. I look forward to finding a resolution on email and also that we make sure you have a great climbing season coming up! 🙂

I am very happy with the training plan and my results. The initial test identified my weakness in max finger strength and this was the focus of the training plan. Coming back from a finger injury, I was a bit worried but after following the plan rather strictly my fingers are much stronger AND feel healthier than in a long time. My climbing feels much more solid, and the plan made me reach my season’s goal of setting a new sport climbing PB.
Matt Dearden –
Having done two of these over the past two winters I can confirm they really work! I travel a lot for work but the plans were perfectly structured to allow me to fit everything in each week. Both times I came into the sport season feeling strong and managed to up my red point a couple of grades.
R. Artiles Uriarte (verified owner) –
My recently finished training plan in numbers:
-Max weight pull-ups: 10% improvement
-Open grip max hangs: 23% improvement*
-Small edges: 6%*
-Hip flexibility: 149 cm to 153.5 cm.
Outdoor grades:
-From projecting anti-style 7As to projecting anti-style 7Cs (and feeling within reach)
-Anti-style 7As now go in a few tries.
-7B/7B+ go in a pair of sessions.
Notable improvements:
-Fingerstrenght.
-Technique.
-Flexibility.
** The abnormal 23% improvement is most likely due to a very laid back first testing session, I think something between 15-20% might be more realistic. Similarly, both days doing testing on small edges were rather hot and humid (24C, 64% humidity), this perhaps had some effect on the results.
To me, this sounds like a win!

To make it clear how great lattice plans have been for me this is the 3rd one I’ve had!
I’m often recommending these guys to other climbers who may be struggling with eg finger strength or flexibility, or injuries, plateaus or whatever. If you’ve never had a training plan before, Lattice will identify the low hanging fruit and you’ll see rapid improvement. In my first plan my finger strength was identified as being well below average for climbers at my grade. I went from being able to hang a 20mm edge with bodyweight+12kg at the start of the plan, to +32kg at the end. After completing a fingerboarding plan, that figure went up again to +42kg. Finger strength is no longer a limiting factor in my climbing, and I’ve got popeye forearms to boot which is a nice little bonus!
Workouts are loaded in to the app and I really like how you can plan your own week. Plenty of guidance is given as to what structure is sensible in training terms, such as completing antagonist conditioning before a climbing session. This lets you suit the workouts to your own needs while doing things in an optimal way.
Like many others I am in the position of being obsessed with climbing, but I have a desk job as well and not as much free time as I’d like. When I’m not at work I want to be climbing or training. I don’t have much time to read the literature or compile a database of climbing performance metrics. These plans represent brilliant value for money! The lattice guys really know their stuff from years of research, and the coaches themselves are super strong climbers. All 3 times I’ve had a plan, I’ve seen an improvement in my grade and, more importantly, enjoyment in climbing as I feel light as a bird and injury free.
Keep up the great work Lattice!

I started the plan in December with hopes of getting to a performance phase by February. I was not dissapointed one bit. 6 weeks in i went from not hanging on 7mm to doing pullups x3 on it. I was able to hang on monos. My endurnace and power never felt better. I went on my trip and felt really great on an 8a as well as finished a 7b and 7b+. The plan works if you stick to it mo matter how little.
Sander (verified owner) –
I just love the Lattice training plan. I am now on my second consecutive plan and just decided to continue on my third. I can sum up what is great about this plan in three points.
1. Flexibility. My training days move around a lot depending on work and weather, so the ability to adjust each weeks schedule is great and very easy. Also it helps to plan out the week in advance.
2. Changing stimuli. The focus of my training hasn’t changed but each consecutive plan tackles is with different exercises. This keeps it interesting and makes sure the body can keep adapting.
3. The progress is real! After hitting a plateau at 6c/7a for two years I finally broke through this ceiling. 7a’s are doable in one or two sessions and 7b is within reach.
Keep up the great work and loving the information on Instagram!

I just completed another block and super pleased with my progress. I started out the year unable to climb *anything* on the moonboard (specifically 2017) and decided to work on that since our outdoor crag got shut down. I’m really psyched to see steady progress and coming out of it injury-free. I’ve since sent some v3 benchmarks and working on v4s. The best part is being able to do a 6×6 workout on the board! Imagine that! i couldn’t start on any problem before!
I also appreciated the lower body exercises. I’m short (157cm) so building a base on the moonboard and gaining more mobility + strength on my legs meant that I unlocked my ‘anti-style’ on steeper sport routes in the last 3 months.
I’d like to thank Jon Procter who wrote my plans. I have a long, inevitable break from being able to train after this block but I have all the confidence that the Lattice team will help me meet my long term goals when I get back.

Thanks to this program I improved by 40% my fingers strength!!! This is incredible!! . The fingerboard plan is a well built program, very detailed and if followed carefully will provide amazing results!!
Thank you!!!

Really happy with my climbing improvements, specialy with my performance in roofs and overhangs!
I’m in the second month of my training plan, and last weekend I sent two V5 (one of them flashed), three V6 (one of them in 2 tries) and my first V7 (in 4 tries). Let’s see what I can achieve after 6 months of Lattice Lite Training Plan!

I recently finished my first bouldering training plan by lattice with the focus on outdoor bouldering. Alltough i tweaked my finger in the last phase of my plan and therefore was unable to finish it properly, the results are still amazing. My grade i could send in one day went up significantly and i managed to catch up with my friends in the gym, some of them are really amazed by the progress i made in those 12 weeks.
The plan is well structured and i learned a lot of training structuring. The best moment was, when i progressed from strength intervalls on the moonboard to boulder triples with the same problems and even with shorter rests, i could send them. I felt strong and confident in my climbing as i never did before. Thanks Tom and Lattice for the nice experience, i will get another plan for sure!

After conducting a Home Training Plan with Lattice in February and March 2021, I was positively surprised about my gains in max strength, power endurance and endurance. Thus, it was an easy decision to follow-up with a 3 month Lite Plan in July, August and September 2021. I enjoyed the well-founded and carefully elaborated training plan by Cameron, that was particularly tailored on my three week trip in summer when I was on the road. I plan to start my next Lite Plan for 6 months in the beginning of November 2021. I cannot wait to start.
Heth Jennings –
I’m definitely a boulderer. My ideal problem is 4-6 moves long. With lattice, I have been working on my endurance and flexibility. I can touch my knuckles to the floor with a standing pike stretch and my box split isn’t atrocious anymore! Regarding the endurance, I was able to complete the 6 in 6 recently on some stout Moonboard benchmarks (at least, stout for me)! This is huge because I failed on several attempts the first time I attempted this workout. And the conditions were horrible, 90+ degrees temperature with a lot of humidity too! I can’t thank Lattice enough!

After just the first 4 weeks i went from been a v5/6 climber to flashing v7 and climbing my first v8! i have seen significant improvements in all areas by the end of my first plan and immediately signed up for a second! id like to thank Jon Proctor for his excellent plan and to lattice for arranging it so I continued into my second block with him.
PJ –
I have recently finished my 1st 3 months with you. I just wanted to take this opportunity to say thank you. I’m thoroughly enjoying my plan and I particularly wanted to single out Jon Proctor for his support. Any queries I have had have been answered promptly, professionally and with a ’can do’ attitude that has been above and beyond my expectations. I have just signed up for my second block and look forword to continuing my improvements with Jon and lattice.

I recently completed the Lite Plan, took a few weeks off, and signed up for another 12 weeks with the home plan. Lattice takes all the questions out of training. Follow the plan and you’ll get results. This training has not only made me stronger physically. It has given me an immense amount of confidence while climbing and has improved my technique dramatically. After this next 12 week plan, I can definitely see myself signing up for another plan.

I just wanted to thank you for the great Lattice Lite program. I finished it in March and completely exceeded my expectations when the outdoor season began. I climbed my first 7C which indeed was the goal for the spring and other easier problems that had felt impossible before. I don’t think this would’ve happened without structured and well-thought-out plan. I’m looking forward to training with Lattice again once the outdoor season is over!

I wanted to write another quick review now that the results are in and I’ve completed my 16 weeks (4 as a taster, followed by a full 12 weeks) of the home plan. This is for anyone who’s keen to get the plan but are wondering “does it really work?” YES! Yes it does. I found my climbing project for this year last November, a burly, overhanging 7a+. Normally around a 6b climber who favours vertical terrain myself, with no history of strength or climbing specific training I knew I didn’t really have a shot at last year it but projecting the moves was fun and it got me motivated to train, stumbling across Lattice was a happcident.
When I signed up for my first plan I could just about hang at BW for 10 seconds, I could do 1 pull up with ok-ish form (or 5 if I let my feet touch the floor for a second between reps) and my push/pull ratio was off (push biased).
Now that I’ve completed my plan; my max hang weight for 20mm half crimp is up 128.57%, my pull ups at BW are up 800% and my push ups 170% (though I haven’t had any pushing exercises as part of my plan), my push/pull ratio has also been sorted out and an added bonus is that I’ve managed to cut 30 seconds off my running time/km though I’ve done almost no running training while on the home plan. I’ve become a much more confident climber and my style has become more dynamic too! Thanks Lattice!

Why should I apply? That was my question as well. As already commented above from others you can stuck in details and get confused from the possibilities by setting up your own training plan. With my the first plan I was surprised by the workouts and intensities. At the beginning I struggled a bit to schedule them smart. My impression is that it´s very elaborated. Even when completely stuck with to lock-down home training I improved much when climbing outside. For sure there are other important aspects of climbing which can´t be covered e.g. fear of falling. But from the physical perspective it paid-off great for me.

I did a Lattice Lite Plan for 8 weeks at the start of the year and all I can say is that it was a great experience. The plan was thoughtfully made, and I made good gains on both finger strength and pull up strength. An additional benefit of the plan is that you know exactly what to do that week. Not more, not less. It removes a lot of mental stress trying to continuously adapt your training. In the past I’ve always felt like I “should be doing more” or “should be doing something else”, but with this plan I could put that part of my mind to rest. I really enjoyed working on the plan and look forward on using my gains out in the wild.

I have been following a Lite Plan for around 5 months now and even before completing my first training cycle the results I achieved for my finger strength testing session were beyond expected! The results were also visible on the wall when to my surprise I was able to complete a V7 training circuit for a power endurance session with moderate ease. The Crimpd App is easy to use and you can organise your training sessions according to your own busy schedule each week. I have gained so much in my climbing strength and knowledge from such a supportive and invaluable team at Lattice. I am really excited to continue my next stage in training with them!

I am just starting this plan, but I have been very impressed with the quality of the app, and the forethought in the customized routine based on my training history. Their online support community on facebook is extremely useful and I appreciate the direct response I received from Tom Randall himself in regards to questions I had about my specific training plan. While I could have programmed my own plan to save some money, the smooth integration of the plan with the app itself is worth it’s weight in gold so to speak. I am very hopeful that I’ll see measurable benefit at the conclusion of my first training block and look forward to working with them in the future.

I ordered my first home plan last autumn to get some quick gains just before a climbing trip and to reach my goal there. I never did any structured training before and was never really motivated to just train. The home plan really gave me a training motivation boost, and with measurable gains in my finger strength and shoulder stability, it motivated me even more. Even though it was only a 4 weeks plan, I really felt the difference especially in my crimping power on the rock. What should I say, I achieved my goal and climbed my first 8a and did some routes, that I never thought I could climb in my home area! 😊
For the beginning of the year I now ordered a new 3 months home plan. I feel that it is really tailored to my needs, and the team considered all my additional comments on medication, recovery and injuries. Thumbs up! I am really excited to progress on the new plan!

I’ve been meaning to write a review for a while but have struggled to put into words just how great my experience with Lattice has been (without it getting too cheesy). Basically it’s like…an addiction, but in the best possible sense of the word. You start off dabbling a little, maybe watch a few youtube videos or listen to some of their podcasts, next you might join the Lattice FB community, then you get a 4 week plan, you see how quickly you progress physically and end up getting a longer plan, which lead to another one and then another one until it becomes a constant, positive part of your life. Basically the more involved you get the better it becomes and the more you want. But it’s not just about the training and the physical benefits, there’s sooo much more to it!
Yes, the plan is brilliant, easy to follow and varied enough to be interesting (mine has board climbing, fingerboard sessions as well as lots of S&C and mobility). The fact that it’s planned especially for your needs/goals certainly adds a motivational aspect and the Crimpd app is very user friendly. After just 4 weeks I definitely saw improvement in all areas but for me, the mental aspect has made even more of a difference. The coaches are so helpful and I really think you can tell how committed they are to making Lattice the very best it can be. They really go above and beyond with what they do and there’s a constant feed of new, useful information through various channels, covering all areas from nutrition, to bouldering, to projecting, training and more(!) and always in a really approachable, welcoming way. It really doesn’t matter if you’re completely new to climbing or if you’ve been climbing for years, it’s a happy mix to suit everyone. The positivity throughout the community is absolutely infectious and it’s really the best possible platform I can imagine for all your climbing needs. Honestly, I feel like I haven’t just found a fun, effective training plan; I feel like I’ve found my tribe.

Thanks SO much for the review Jennica!! Definitely part of our tribe now 🙂

I am very happy with my decision to start the “Home training” plan with the Lattice Team.
I really like climbing, but I never had fun doing physical training and it always ended with pain and no fun.
In a few weeks I see a lot of progress, I am enjoying even more climbing on the rocks and the plan is easy to follow. It is very flexible and easy to understand (my English is not the best :)) My questions are answered very veeery quickly.
I just started my second plan, I had no hesitation to follow it.
Thank you very much Lattice Team for the motivation!

Thanks so much for the review Kinga! Always happy to help psyched climbers progress!

After training on my own for years I had achieved my goal finger strength score however I was struggling with progression in the areas of Anaerobic Capacity and core strength and endurance. I asked Lattice to focus my plan on these two areas and it worked perfectly. Now 1 year later I retested and doubled my numbers in both areas making my previous weaknesses into notable strengths. What is more is I am climbing better and stronger than ever. I’m very impressed by Lattice and will continue to work with them!

I have been climbing for 30+ years and train like a beast; but the last 10 has seen me doing mostly 7b routes and I seemed to have reached a plateau. So I opted like so many to train hard during Lockdown; I bought the FB Plan. I wasn’t used to such a structured plan and thought there were way too many rest days! However, these guys know their stuff and I went from onsighting 7a/b to my first onsight of a 7c in many a year. Buy it, follow it to the T, and reap the rewards. It’s changed the way I train and the grade I climb. 🙂

Highly recommend doing this training plan if you’re unable to go to the gym. When this plan is paired with the Crimpd app it is fantastic. The mini-assessment is very easy to do and make sure to be accurate with how much time you can train because Lattice will absolutely tailor it to that. This plan gave me focus while staying at home. Comparing it to previously just going to the gym aimlessly, the plan gave me a structure and to track actual progress.
I was worried that not climbing would affect my performance but doing a plan actually improved my climbing outdoors. I was able to climb a 6c after having struggled with the first move a year ago. On to the next Lattice Plan!
Pros:
Keeps you motivated
Tailored to your strengths/weaknesses
Crimpd App
Progress Tracking
Cons:
None

This was my first experience with Lattice home training plan during lockdown. I saw and even used before very cool App – Crimd by Lattice, but while gyms were open I always felt too excited about climbing and wasn’t doing hangs or other exercises after climbing sessions. During lockdown I understood that I need a Plan from someone professional to keep my motivation for training at home high. The price and good reviews from my friends helped me to make my choice and I ordered Home training Plan. I found it very full-fledged. There were different hangs, upper-body exercises and flexibility/mobility complex. After gyms were open again I found myself very quickly on the same grades as I was before (7A). My core and fingers were stronger and I started climbing 7B. If before my training plan I only climbed 1-2 7B’s for last year, after openning gyms in the summer I managed to climb about 8-10 7B’s already. That is a huge progress for me. Thank you a lot. And what is very important, I understood, that having clear and professional plan is 99% of your access and can move you to your next grade the fastest way! That’s why I ordered now my next 3-months plan and happy to start it next week!!!))

I did the Home Training Plan during the first lockdown and it was also my first structured (climbing) training plan I have ever done. Being quite a new climber (1,5yrs) I was not 100% sure if this was the right thing to do, but the tailored plan I got fitted me in a very good way.
When lockdown finished and I could head outside to climb again, I immediately felt the benefits of the training. After a few weeks I finished my project (6c+), and started on my a new training plan;)

I did the finger plan during the lockdown while all gyms were closed and I couldn’t go to work, it was the perfect opportunity. The training was intense and challenging but it helped me a lot. I went from projecting 6c to sending my first 7a in fontainebleau and to my first 7b+ in clibing outside too.
I really am excited to do that again next year and get even stronger. If you wanna improve I highly suggest this plan 🙂

Just finished my first lite plan, and already purchased another 12 week block. I really loved training with the plan, and the app made it so easy to follow. I did the advanced remote assessment before starting with the plan, and it revealed my weaknesses very clearly. After 3 months I already see improvements in many of those areas. I feel more motivated than ever, and I can’t wait to start the second block! Highly recommended

A few weeks ago I finished up the 12-week lattice light training plan. During lockdown this has helped me improve my finger strength, and gotten me back to being fit for climbing. I really enjoyed this, and have just signed up for my second 12 week block. I have been climbing for about 30 years and am heading into my late 40s. I really believe that with structured training like this which is customised to my own current level and weaknesses, that there is every chance that I can actually reach some personal bests over the next year. I’m looking forward to starting the next block

After getting stuck on the same level for years, I decided I need some proper training instead of random climbing – and I thought I should get a professionally designed program instead of making one myself with my degree from Google University. The results were impressive! I improved more than I expected. It wasn’t only the exercises were on-the-spot for my weaknesses, but having such a well planned program and seeing progress with controlled testing motivated me more to go to the next session (and maybe also paying for it 😁). The flexibility to design your own week (with proper guidance) was also a big plus for a full-time office worker like me. I’m now back for my second block, and can’t wait to start! Definitely recommended ✌

Great plan. I just subscribed to my 3rd block as I have seen quantifiable results since I started last year. Lattice is my first structured training and I like how easy it is to just follow along all the exercises. It forced me to have accountability and work on my weaknesses.
I highly recommend this plan if you are in need of some structure to training and want to go over your pleateau.

I started my first block of Lattice Lite after the walls first closed in March so I would not lose my climbing momentum. I had done fingerboarding with a coach previously but had no idea how to actually structure my finger training and I also knew I would never have the discipline to do regular conditioning exercises on my own.
I love the format of this program, the weekly portions of exercises make it easy to adapt to my schedule and unexpected bad days, and the deadlines turned out to be a great motivator so I never even missed that oh-so-painful hip flexibility routine!
My primary goal with this program was to maintain finger strength and overall shape, but I actually ended up a great deal stronger than ever! Once the walls finally reopened, I found I could rest on crimps I could barely hold before and my bouldering grade is up by 1-2 full V-grades.
Very happy customer. Now, onto my second block!

This is a great programme! I was relatively new to fingerboard training (forced into it by coronavirus, like many others) and had no structure in my approach to training for climbing. Raf was my coach at Lattice – the programme he wrote was exactly what I was looking for, it built up both the volume and load incrementally and included a lot of relevant accessories work, not just hanging. My strength improved dramatically throughout this programme and with that, so did the grade that I’m climbing at. Thanks!

I always knew i would be capable of climbing hard but i always thought it would take me a few years. After 3 months of my first lite plan I went from V5-6 to V9 I can’t believe it yet haha the exercises, the conitioning it’s amazing Next monday I’m starting my second lite plan and I couldn’t be more motivated. Thanl you so much Lattice.

I bought my fist Lattice lite training plan together with my wife and 2 other friends. We all were surprised to truly see each plan tailored to everyone’s needs. We all have seen good results so far, but particularly in my case, I have seen results beyond pure strength increase. I used to have a bit of a climbers elbow pain and one of my shoulders used to give me some trouble every once and then. The conditioning part of the training and the structure of the plan itself have kept me injury free and these two niggles have completely disappeared. I will definitely keep on training with Lattice.
Pieter –
I will start my second block of the lattice lite training plan next Monday! The first plan really showed my “working points” (sounds better then weaknesses ;-)) I received a 12 weeks program in the crimpd app with a lot of specific training for those points! If you like structure in your training, don’t hesitate! 💪🏻 (It was for me a big difference compared to my own climbing training sessions before)
And it was worth it! Did my first 7a sport climbing!

No more Plateau! After three months of training with this program I went from projecting 12a to achieving my goal of a 12a on site! The exercise routines are really straightforward and the app makes things very organized. I would highly recommend to anyone looking to take her climbing to the next level After three months of training with this program I went from project team 12 A to achieving my goal of a 12 a on site! I just recently completed my first 3 month fingerboard training plan. Overall, I was really happy with my experience. I’m in the US and this was a great way to make progress towards my climbing goals during the COVID-19 pandemic. I really like the Crimpd App. The embedded videos made it easy to learn new exercises, and gave me confidence that I was using correct form and completing the exercises correctly. The built in timer and rep/set counter made it easy to complete workouts and the having the workout history in the app made it easy to see my progress. The program provided the structure I needed to keep me motivated, but provided enough flexibility that I could fit the sessions to my busy schedule. I made significant gains in my max hangs and made noticeable improvements in my finger strength and endurance. I would gladly recommend this to a friend or climbing partner and am signing up for another three months.

I have been using the Crimpd app for about a year and bought my first Lattice Lite plan in the spring just as we all went into Lockdown. I found it really helped my motivation and gave me much more structure to my training sessions. I really liked the way that my plan was integrated to the app and to see progress over the 12 weeks was also very encouraging. I am not the youngest climber these days (51) but still saw gains across all performance areas measured by the mini test (finger strength, pull up strength, power endurance and flexibility) and have then gone on to seen those gains transfer positively to outdoors climbing in the last few weeks which has been amazing. I would thoroughly recommend making the small investment- it pays!
Simone –
This is a great tool to learn how to train and become stronger overall.
The app is also very well designed, it makes following the sessions extremely easy and keeps you motivated over the course of your plan.
I got addicted at seeing those training boxes getting filled with data!
Christopher –
I purchased the Lite training plan right before the coronavirus started to hit strong here where I live. All the climbing gyms were locked down, and we couldn’t go to the crags. I started with the Lite plan with a small climbing wall that I have at home. The Lite plan has been really helpful during this period of time. It has helped me with both my physical health and my motivation. I am getting stronger climbing-wise. It has helped me to organize my time around my trainings, and to maintain the motivation.

This was my first time on a formal plan and I’m really glad I chose Lattice. The plan I received was perfectly tailored, which gave me loads of confidence and motivation to improve. The app made workout tracking really easy, and the wealth of info available via the Lattice YouTube page answered all of my ancillary questions. Top marks, and highly recommended!
Christian (verified owner) –
After two years of random max hangs with no increase in fingerstrength I finally found the right plan. The plan from the Lattice guys opened my eyes in terms of programming the energy systems and take enough rest days. All questions where awnsered really fast via mail. As a guy who mainly climb for fun I think this is the right Plan for everyone who wants to improve in fingerstrength and dont need or want “on wall Training“ sessions.
[email protected] –
The first step was realizing that I had to address my weaknesses to become a better climber. After that the lattice team gave me everything I needed to move forward. First was identifying what my weakness’ are, then setting a plan that is enjoyable to implement, and finally providing me direction to effectively get out and execute on that plan. Now I’m improving and breaking out beyond the plateau I’ve been riding for several years. Thanks to the lattice team for helping me find the way.
Luc –
Stuck on a plateau for a long time, I kept training by myself convinced I was just lacking endurance. Lattice assessment, instead, identified finger strength as my weakness. Training plan was easy to follow and as a result I am now climbing consistently harder than before.
Totally worth it!
Konstantin –
Very good experience – that helped me send my season project.
At the beginning of the year I tried my project (King Kong in Magic Wood) and could not even get the starting move. After completing the program 2/3 through I tried again and sent it.
Pros:
– Detailed trainings per week to complete with flexibility to do them when you find time
– Training priorities to focus on if the time you have for training isn’t sufficient for the entire plan
– Gets you fit and up your project
Cons:
– Need to go to the gym when there are less people to complete the timed climbing exercises
– Sometimes you need to throw in a fun climbing session to stay motivated 😉
