I bought one of these recently – I initially had the same concerns Jussi Taka expressed here. I am happy to report, after using the pin a number of times, the plates __don’t__ move during usage.

For the aesthetic perfectionist, Lattice’s very helpful support team also showed me a “Centering Adapter” for the pin that allows a 2 inch plate to fit centered.

I bought this for my husband as it served two purposes. One was to tidy up the weights that we have lying around the bedroom as the pin tidily stacks everything together. The second was to give an easy way to do his strength training at home. We were particularly happy to find that the diameter of the pin allowed for both small and large weight discs and the clipping loop had plenty of space for either snaps or screw gates.

Does what it’s supposed to but the quality/feel of the product wasn’t what I expected:

The Lattice logo was a sticker that peeled of immediately when unboxing, the welds of the carabiner hook look bad and the pin/pole base under the cork mat isn’t plugged so you can press your thumb through it (so if you happen to drop the pin on a sharp corner, the base cover will definitely tear). Overall the feeling I get using this product is “cheap”. Then again it’s just a lifting pin but if you as premium brand decide to sell one, I’d expect it to be better quality.

I own a physiotherapy clinic next to a climbing gym and wanted to present my clients with Lattice products because I had the idea they’d be “top-notch”. This product, especially when comparing to Quad block (which feels amazing) I received in the same package, really doesn’t support the Lattice brand image (“The world’s leading climbing coaching & training plan company”).

Suggestions how to make the product better:
-Lose the sticker and laser etch/or engrave the Lattice logo on top
-Make the seams more clean at the top (maybe cap the top and and then weld the hook on top)
-Cap the bottom under the cork mat so the bottom feels solid
-Maybe offer another version with 50mm pipe diameter (or at least inform on your Tech Specs that this is for smaller diameter weight plates)? A lot of gyms use 50mm diameter weight plates and now when using this product the weights are moving around on the pin.

    Cheers

Hey Jussi, thanks for the feedback!
We’re always trying to improve our products to give our customers the best experience possible. We’re currently testing new stickers for our pins and would be happy to send you some replacements when we get them. As for the hole in the bottom of the pin – this helps us hide those welds and ensure every pin is symmetrical. We’ve not encountered any breakages but if you do poke through the cork, please let us know and we’ll send you out a replacement base.

Some things you miss without even knowing it… for me this is definitely true for the lifting pin. As someone who uses their pinch block every single time they go climbing during warm-up, or who is doing some sort of weighted lifts/hangs/pull-ups multiple times a week, this little thingy makes training so much more convenient!
No more hassle with chains, slings and other wobbly constructions, with the lifting pin you can just stack all your weights and they stay perfectly balanced. This might seem like not that much of a difference, but especially during max strength testing, it could make the difference between a successful or failed attempt.
On top of that, the lifting pin is surprisingly light, and I can either clip it to my backpack or stuff it in there and bring it to wherever my training happens.
At home, the cork base is quite nice to have, not just for looks, but also to save my wooden floor boards 😉 For something that light, the max capacity of 175kg is quite reassuring, and I’m pretty confident that I won’t run into any issues putting on too much weights anytime soon.
I’m super happy with the product and I can recommend it to everyone who is doing some lifting and weighted training regularly.
