How do Lattice Training plans work?
Starting your journey with a Lattice training plan is simple: from your first click to your first session, every step is tailored to you and your goals.

Which training plan is right for me?
We offer three types of plan, each designed to suit different needs and levels of support:
Climbing Training Plan: This plan is self-guided, meaning that once your coach has written it, you will be responsible for directing your training without support from a coach.
This plan is a one-off payment and can be 12 or 24 weeks long.
Climbing Training Plan PLUS: As well as everything found in the Climbing Training Plan, the PLUS training plan, includes ongoing coach communication and unlimited plan edits. You will be able to ask your coach any questions and have your plan adjusted if a session isn’t working, your schedule changes, or something last-minute comes up.
This plan is a subscription service and requires a minimum 6 month commitment.
Flexibility Training Plan: This is the plan for climbers wanting to focus solely on their flexibility (and associated strength) for climbing.

Step 2: Complete Your Assessment
Before your plan can be written, we need to know exactly where you are now – and where you want to be. That’s why every plan starts with an assessment.
We hold the largest database of climber metrics in the world, so when you complete your assessment, we compare your results against climbers at your current and goal grade. This shows us exactly where your performance gaps are and helps us target your training effectively.
What’s included in the assessment?
- Climbing Training Plan: Assessment includes 4 tests. It should take approximately 60 minutes to complete.
- Climbing Training Plan Plus: In-depth assessment with 16 tests over 3 sessions. Each session takes approximately 90 minutes to complete. You should rest for 48 hours between testing sessions.
- Flexibility Training Plan: Flexibility-specific assessment with 15 tests.
How it works
- Once you purchase your plan, we’ll email you your assessment link.
- At this stage, you also complete a pre-plan form where you can detail your goals, facilities, time availability, training history, and any other key info.
- Your coach can’t begin writing your plan until you’ve submitted your results – so the sooner you complete it, the sooner you can start training!
Step 3: Your Coach Writes Your Plan
Once your assessment results are in, your coach will create your 100% custom training plan.
Plans take two weeks for coaches to write; your training will begin the next Monday two weeks after you’ve submitted your assessment results.
Your plan will:
- Address weaknesses highlighted in your assessment.
- Build on your strengths where that benefits your goals.
- Include training specific to your climbing style and objectives (e.g., if your project is a compression boulder, you’ll see plenty of relevant exercises).
- Be fully tailored to your available time and facilities.
You might be surprised by what your assessment reveals – but your coach will know exactly how to turn those results into progress.
Step 4: Optional Coach Consultation
You can choose to book a consultation call with your coach to:
- Go over your assessment results.
- Walk through your training plan.
- Understand exactly how each element will help you reach your goals.
If you don’t opt for the call, you’ll still receive a personal video from your coach explaining your training.
Step 5: Begin Training
Your plan will be delivered in the Lattice app – exclusive to plan clients.
In the app, you can:
- Schedule your training for maximum flexibility.
- Tick off sessions as you complete them.
- Use built-in timers set up for your workouts.
- Track your training analytics.
Climbing Training Plan PLUS and Flexibility Training Plan clients can also communicate with their coach via the in-app chat to ask questions and request plan edits. Plan edits are unlimited — so you can request as often as you like, whether there’s an exercise you’re not enjoying, you schedule has changed, or you have an upcoming trip.
Your coach will reply within 3 working days.
Step 6: Moving Into Your Next Phase
Continuing your training journey is easy!
- Climbing Training Plan clients: Purchase another 12- or 24-week plan to continue training. Each new block starts with a reassessment.
- Climbing Training Plan PLUS and Flexibility Training Plan clients: Plans auto-renew each month for a minimum of 6 months. You’ll need to give 14 weeks’ notice to cancel. Reassessment is completed as needed.
