Which Lattice Plan Should I Choose?

Choosing the right training plan for you! We know that it might not be immediately obvious which Lattice plan is going to be right for your lifestyle, climbing level and specific goals. So if this sounds like you, keep on reading, so we can help you choose the right level of plan.

REMEMBER: All our plans are 100% personalised

Before we get started, we think it’s important to note that each and every one of of our plans is 100% bespoke and customised for the individual climber.

At the start of your training journey for any of our plans, we will send you a pre-plan form which will encourage you to share with us: your goals, preferred climbing discipline, work/family/climbing schedule, any previous injuries, time to train, access to equipment and anything else that we need to know, including how you train around menstrual cycles (if this is applicable).

All of our plans also include an assessment, so we can find out your exact strengths and weaknesses, using these results and your form, your coach will create a plan that works for you.

The Differences Between our Plans

Here we will outline the main features and differences between our Climbing Training Plan, Climbing Training Plan+, and Flexibility Training Plan.

Climbing Training Plan

The Climbing Training Plan is fully personalised and delivered in either 12-week or 24-week blocks. These plans are designed to help you focus specifically on areas where you want to improve, while also incorporating the right type of training for your lifestyle.

All plans are ‘self-coached,’ meaning your coach will create a customised training plan for you. Once your plan is delivered through the Lattice Training app, you will guide yourself through the process, using the app to view, log, and track your progress.

Please note that once your plan is delivered via the Lattice Training app, it cannot be modified.

This plan is ideal for any discipline, whether bouldering, sport, trad, or for anyone looking to improve across two or more disciplines.

What are the physical requirements?

  •  You must be over 18 years of age
  •  You must have climbed V4/6B boulder or 6b+/5.10+ sport in the last 12 months
  •  You must be able to hang your bodyweight on a 20mm rung for 10 seconds or more
  •  You must not be injured

I have an injury, do you offer rehab?

In the interest of the safety and the longevity of our clients’ climbing, we have a strict no-injury policy on all of our plans (we class this as able to climb and train to your maximum effort without pain or restriction).

Lattice plans and injury

We can in some cases work with clients who have chronic injuries so long as they have clearance from a climbing-specific physiotherapist or medical professional.

It is also possible for some clients with lower-body injuries to train with us. However, it’s best to get in touch if you have any questions, so we can give you individual advice.

I don’t meet your minimum requirements.

Whilst we don’t have any plans for those who don’t meet our minimums physical requirements (see details above), we do have plenty of free resources to help you get there! We recommend checking out the following;

Lattice Training YouTube – This is packed full of free resources, like follow-along home workouts, beginners tutorials on how to fingerboard or how to train pull-ups and generally so much more. So when you need some extra guidance, definitely check out our channel!

The Lattice blog – We also have lots of coaching advice, interviews and training tips available on our blog, so do check this out if you fancy reading up on a bit more – there is even a guide on writing your own training plan, which may help you out.

The Lattice Training Podcast – Hosted by us, the podcast features discussions and interviews with many of the planet’s best climbers and coaches. We delve into the details of what works and what doesn’t when it comes to training, performance and recovery.

  1. Hi,
I would like to ask what are the more specific differences between bouldering training plan and fingerboard training plan? Does bouldering training plan also include elements of finger strength and campus?

    Thank you,
    Jakub Warszawski

    1. Hi Jakub, yes our bouldering training plan includes finger training. We’d recommend the bouldering plan over the fingerboard plan if you are looking to do more bouldering specific training, whereas if you only wanted a fingerboard plan then go with that but the bouldering plan is broader and will be a more complete plan encompassing finger strength and campus training.
