Which Lattice Plan Should I Choose?
Choosing the right training plan for you! We know that it might not be immediately obvious which Lattice plan is going to be right for your lifestyle, climbing level and specific goals. So if this sounds like you, keep on reading, so we can help you choose the right level of plan.
REMEMBER: All our plans are 100% customised
Before we get started, we think it’s important to note that each and every one of of our plans is 100% bespoke and customised for the individual climber.
At the start of your training journey for any of our plans, we will send you a pre-plan form which will encourage you to share with us: your goals, preferred climbing discipline, work/family/climbing schedule, any previous injuries, time to train, access to equipment and anything else that we need to know, including how you train around menstrual cycles (if this is applicable).
All of our plans also include an assessment, so we can find out your exact strengths and weaknesses, using these results and your form, your coach will create a plan that works for you.
The Differences Between our Plans
Here we will outline the main features and differences between our Lattice Training Plans, Performance Training Plans and Flexibility Training Plans.
- Lattice Training Plans including Bouldering, Sport, Home & Fingerboard Training Plans.
These training plans are all 100% customised, and delivered in your choice of 6, 12 or 24-week training blocks. They are designed to give you the chance to specifically focus on the area you feel you need to, as well as including the right type of training for your lifestyle.
All of these plans are ‘self coached’ meaning, your coach will create a customised training plan for you, however once you have your plan, you will guide yourself through the process, using our Lattice Training app, to view, log and track your progress.
Ideal for intermediate level climbers, as you can get started from V4/6b+, we believe this is the level in which you will start to get the most out of training for climbing.
These plans are not able to be changed once delivered via the Lattice Training app.
Boulder or Sport Climber: If you are primarily a Boulder or Sport climber, and you want a full training plan to take into account all aspects of your training, we recommend choosing one of these plans.
Finger Strength: If you are looking to focus primarily on your finger strength and upper body conditioning, then the Fingerboard plan is going to be a great choice for you!
Home Trainer: By contrast, if you are looking to make maximum gains, but only train at home, the Home plan can be perfectly tailored to your unique goals and home facilities.
With a Performance Training Plan, you will be paired with one of our world-class coaches who will support you throughout the entire journey.
This is ideal for those that not only want a custom plan, but they also want the added support of a coach throughout the journey, to help with session questions, support changes to their plan and be available to talk through any issues that might pop up, whether it’s a last minute trip or a unexpected change to your lifestyle. Your coach can help guide you through each step and make sure your training is working for you.
These plans are ideal for clients that are at a slightly higher level, V5/7a+, have more long-term goals across a variety of climbing disciplines and also want the extra 1:1 support from a coach to help them along the way.
Delivered over a minimum 14-week term, you also have full flexibility to have your plan changed where needed. They are also delivered via the Lattice Training app.

I have an injury, do you offer rehab?
In the interest of the safety and the longevity of our clients’ climbing, we have a strict no-injury policy on all of our plans (we class this as able to climb and train to your maximum effort without pain or restriction).
We can in some cases work with clients who have chronic injuries so long as they have clearance from a climbing-specific physiotherapist or medical professional.
It is also possible for some clients with lower-body injuries to take part in our Fingerboard plans. However, it’s best to get in touch if you have any questions, so we can give you individual advice.
I don’t meet your minimum requirements.
Whilst we don’t have any plans for those who don’t meet our minimums physical requirements (see details above), we do have plenty of free resources to help you get there! We recommend checking out the following;
Lattice Training YouTube – This is packed full of free resources, like follow-along home workouts, beginners tutorials on how to fingerboard or how to train pull-ups and generally so much more. So when you need some extra guidance, definitely check out our channel!
The Lattice blog – We also have lots of coaching advice, interviews and training tips available on our blog, so do check this out if you fancy reading up on a bit more – there is even a guide on writing your own training plan, which may help you out.

Hi,
I would like to ask what are the more specific differences between bouldering training plan and fingerboard training plan? Does bouldering training plan also include elements of finger strength and campus?
Thank you,
Jakub Warszawski
Hi Jakub, yes our bouldering training plan includes finger training. We’d recommend the bouldering plan over the fingerboard plan if you are looking to do more bouldering specific training, whereas if you only wanted a fingerboard plan then go with that but the bouldering plan is broader and will be a more complete plan encompassing finger strength and campus training.
