Struggling to Focus on Your Training?
Coach Jen shares her three top tips for staying focused during your training when life is busy and distracted.
Lots going on?
Struggling to focus on training because of other things in life?
It can be hard turning up to the wall when there’s lots on your plate… if you’ve had a stressful day at work… or you just feel there’s other things you ‘should’ be doing…
A lack of focus during your training can significantly reduce its efficiency and minimise the benefits you get from it.
While we can’t help much with the cause of the stress, here are a few ways to get the most out of your session and keep it as focused as possible:
3 Tips for Focusing on Your Training When Life Gets Busy
1. Have a little session goal
This doesn’t need to be complicated, it could be as simple as a particular boulder you want to do.
You may want to set process-based goals, such as dedicating 30 minutes to climbing on a wall angle you find challenging, or attempting to climb problems dynamically instead of finding the static way.
2. Plan your training early
By setting your regimen in advance, you can arrive at the gym ready to start immediately without any mental barriers or distractions.
This simplifies the process and allows you to focus your mental energy on the training, rather than on figuring out what to do next. You can simply ‘tick the boxes’.
And then, your remaining mental energy goes to trying hard!
3. Bring what you’ve got
We can’t all be at our absolute best all the time, just bring your best on the day!
Be proud of showing up and make the most of it 🙂
