Too busy to train? Find your minimum effective training dose!

Time is tight, but you’re eager to make progress. So how do we make training efficient and see results?

We need to find our minimum effective training dose: the smallest amount of training we can do for maximum results.

It’s all about doing the right things in the right amount of time, minimising the strain on your busy schedule.

Here’s 4 tips for maximising your limited time for training:

1. Know your priorities

Identify your strengths and weaknesses. Identify your goals.

Prioritise exercises that target these weaknesses and align with your climbing objectives.

Remember: quality over quantity.

2. Intensity matters

When time is limited, intensity becomes your best friend. Prioritise shorter, higher intensity sessions!

Not only do you save time during training, but the recovery period is shorter.

3. Don’t forget technique

Cranking out reps can be helpful, but precise movements, footwork, and balance also improve your performance and efficiency on the wall.

A great way to save time and practise technique is to work those skills in your warm-ups and/or during those lower intensity, longer duration climbing sessions.

4. Optimise recovery

The minimum effective training dose is all about finding the sweet spot between training and recovery.

Ensure you give your body the time it needs to adapt and grow stronger.

Quality sleep, proper nutrition, and active recovery techniques are your secret weapons!
